Established in 1835, Lucas County is home to Toledo, a major industrial city. Named after Governor Robert Lucas, the county played a key role in the Toledo War, a boundary dispute between Ohio and Michigan. Toledo’s location on the Maumee River and Lake Erie made it a center for glass manufacturing, shipping, and auto production.
