Did You Know?

Created in 1845, Defiance County was named after Fort Defiance, a stronghold built by General Anthony Wayne in 1794. The county played an essential role in the Indian Wars of the late 18th century. As settlement increased, canals and railroads transformed the economy, turning the area into an important center for trade and industry.
