Did You Know?

Founded in 1809, Darke County was named after General William Darke, a veteran of the American Revolution. The county is best known as the birthplace of Annie Oakley, the famous sharpshooter. Agriculture, particularly corn and soybean farming, has remained the backbone of its economy. The county was also a site of early frontier conflicts between settlers and Native Americans.
