About Found in Ohio

If you’ve ever visited a historic location and wondered who previously stood in the same spot where you were currently standing, then you’re in the right place. (And for the record, you can visit the Warren G. Harding home in Marion and literally stand in his footsteps, because the spot on his porch where he stood to give campaign speeches is marked.)

  • Ohio was one of the most important states on the Underground Railroad?
  • The state was home to an interesting number of groups seeking religious freedoms, including the Zoarites and the Moravians?
  • There are eight U.S. Presidents that came from Ohio – the most of any other state?

While other sites focus on the famous locations, such as the U.S. Presidential sites (you’ll see those here as well) and the big museums, Found in Ohio also spends time discussing the everyday people who made this state what it is today, even if their only contribution is a cool, historic house that’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places, yet remains in private hands.

Let’s focus on ALL of the history in Ohio, including the people who don’t get many mentions in the history books. Local history places an emphasis on the fact that there’s history everywhere, and it just needs to be written up. That’s what Found in Ohio is for.
